Burlesque

The music is fantastic and the visuals are amazing. (There is lots of lots of eye candy in this movie, Cam Gigandet, Eric Dane...oh yeah and there are some girls, too.) Seriously, the acting, singing and dancing are fabulous. I was really impressed by Christina Aguilera. Except when she was singing, I saw Ali, not Christina. The only thing that is missing is an actual story. Oh, there's a plot, but it's pretty weak and totally predictable.

Despite the less than compelling storyline, the movie is a lot of fun and eminently entertaining. The use of music to carry the plot forward is interesting and felt fresh. The movie may not make my top ten list, but it's worth watching and I think seeing it in a theater does add to the experience.

Isn't it supposed to be a "tasteful" version of Showgirls?

It doesn't really follow the same plot as Showgirls at all. Oh crap, I just fessed up to watching that movie?

I can see what Lu is saying but it's too early in the morning to be remembering that pool scene! My God that was a bad movie.

Burlesque was entertaining with great singing, costumes, and Stanley Tucci. The story line was very tired.
